TruDev ("TruDev," "we," "us," or "our") operates a technical assessment platform that helps
companies evaluate candidates through coding and skills assessments. This policy explains
what personal data we collect from employers and candidates, why we collect it, how we use
and protect it, and the choices you have — including how we handle email communications sent
through our platform.
1.Who this policy covers
This policy applies to everyone who interacts with TruDev, including:
Employers who create an account to build and send assessments to candidates.
Candidates who are invited to take an assessment, whether or not they create an account.
Visitors to trudev.io who are not registered users.

Email engagement data
Delivery, bounce, and open events for emails we send, used to keep our sending reputation healthy and our lists accurate
3.How we use information
We use personal data to:
Create and maintain employer and candidate accounts
Deliver, score, and display technical assessments
Send transactional emails — assessment invitations, results notifications, account verification, password resets, and status updates
Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
Monitor, secure, and improve the reliability of the platform
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use candidate assessment data to train
third-party advertising models.
4.Email communications
All email TruDev sends is transactional and triggered by an action taken on the platform —
for example, an employer inviting a candidate, or a candidate submitting an assessment.
We do not send bulk marketing or promotional email, and we do not purchase, rent, or scrape
email lists.
Every email we send:
Is triggered by a specific, identifiable action tied to an active account or assessment
Comes from a domain authenticated with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC
Is monitored for bounces and complaints, which are automatically suppressed from future sends
Because our email is transactional rather than promotional, there is no general marketing
list to unsubscribe from. Registered users can manage which non-essential notifications
they receive from their account settings at any time.
5.Legal basis for processing
Where required (for example, under the GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases:
Contract: processing needed to provide the assessment platform to employers and candidates
Consent: where you have given it, such as for optional communications
Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data to comply with the law
6.How we share information
We share personal data only in these circumstances:
With employers: a candidate's assessment results and submission are shared with the employer who invited them.
Service providers: vetted vendors who help us operate the platform — including hosting, email delivery (Amazon SES), analytics, and payment processing — under contractual confidentiality obligations.
Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TruDev, our users, or others.
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy or a comparable one.
7.Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide our services and for legitimate
business or legal purposes. Account data is retained while an account is active. Candidate
assessment data is retained for the period agreed with the inviting employer, after which it
is deleted or anonymized unless a longer retention period is required by law.
8.Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect personal data,
including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular review of our systems. No
method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute
security.
9.Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request a copy of your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in
Section 14. We will respond within the timeframe required by
applicable law.
10.Cookies and tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences, and
limited analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used and to improve it. We do
not use third-party advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser
settings.
11.Children's privacy
TruDev is intended for use by working professionals and job candidates. We do not knowingly
collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with
personal data, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
12.International data transfers
TruDev may process and store data in countries other than your own. Where we transfer
personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards required by applicable data
protection law.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update
the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify registered users directly.
